Jared McNeill is an American actor, writer, director, and producer of
theatre, film, and multi-media projects. He worked for 10 years in 5 international productions of renowned theatre director Peter Brook as actor and, on occasion, assistant to the director. Productions include 11 & 12, The Suit, The Valley of Astonishment, and Battlefield.
He has performed or produced works in notable institutions such as the Barbican Theatre, The Young Vic (London), Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, Théâtre de la Bastille (Paris), Festival d'Avignon, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Theater for a New Audience (New York), Teatro Argentina, Parco della Musica (Rome), and LG Arts Centre (Seoul), among many others.
Onstage he has performed in English, French, Italian, Sardo, and Grecanico (so far...)
As director, his production of The Conductor (based on the novel by Sarah Quigley) premiered at the 2016 Buxton Festival (United Kingdom), where it was awarded the Jonathan Beecher Memorial Award. The production went on to tour Europe for 3 years, most notably to the Aberystwyth Arts Centre, Nottingham's Theatre Royal & Concert Hall, London's The Space, France's La Comédie de Clermont-Ferrand Scène Nationale, and Italy's Teatro Due, as well as the Roma Teatro Festival Fringe, where it was awarded Special Distinction of Highest Artistic Merits for "blending together art, music, and civil theatre, in defense of the dignity of every human being."
As a writer, Jared has credits in 3 creative writing programs through the John's Hopkins University Center for Talented Youth, as well as the being invited to the New England Writer's Conference through the Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College (United States). He was awarded a Boulé Scholarship for Creative Writing in 2004, and was a featured poet in the Sunken Garden Poetry Series at the Hill-Stead Museum in Connecticut (United States). Works include the short films Marion Knapp Doesn't Smile, Habitué, and Rubric, as well as theatre pieces The Sand and the Cement, and his adaptation of Sarah Quigley's The Conductor.
In 2019, he was named Resident Artist of CultureHub EU, an experimental arts and technology community founded by La Mama Experimental Theater Company (New York City) and Seoul Institute of the Arts (South Korea). In residency, he was co-creator and developer of the Telematic Embrace, a research into the development of telematic narrative storytelling.
His project, video, and art direction of Elizabeth Swados's WEATHER: A Multimedia Opera on Climate Change combined international artists and technologists across 6 continents, and was featured programming Radiotelevisione Italiana's national broadcast of Italy's Earth Day Celebration in 2021.
His video installation and documentary work has been featured in the programmation of Art Verona and Spoleto's Festival Dei Due
Mondi.
He is a professor of acting and directing at L'Accademia
Nazionale d'Arte Drammatica Silvio D'Amico in Rome.

Other notable collaborations include Tarell Mccraney, Robert O'hara, Chisa Hutchinson, Kenny Leon, Young Jean Lee, Lucie Tiberghien, Tim
Supple, Phylicia Rashad, Jim Henson's Creature Shop, Mohammed El
Khatib, and Valérie Mréjen.
Jared is a graduate of Fordham University (New York City) with a degree in Theatre and Visual Arts.
